A project and an Award!!!

Happy monday! sort of, monday is always a bittersweet day! anyways, I created a card for this new challenge blog that I found. It's called Die Cuttin' Divas.  It is a really fun blog and the challenge was the kick start challenge and it was anything winter. Now I live in Canada, and so the winter is most of the year here, so it seems anyways. I happen to love winter, I love all the sports that you can play hockey, skating, curling, snowshoeing, skiing and cross country skiing to name a few, that being said, when winter is over I love the summer. Anyways, so I was happy to create a card for that challenge. I also created it using the sketch from Card patterns sketch #100.

Recipe: Recollections Cardstock, DCWV Christmas paper stack, cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder, Joys of the Season cricut cartridge, misc ribbon, inkadinkadoo christmas snow stamps, black ink.
Simple card but has really cute winter colors.
Now onto my next announcement I have received my first blog award!! I received the "My Blog has attitude Award" from Dandylicious over at http://dandylicioushair.blogspot.com/, I can't believe it happened so fast. Two weeks ago I would look at all the blogs with all their awards and followers with envy, but now I have a few followers (thank you followers) and I even have an award!!!

I received the award from Dandy over at dandylicioushair.blogspot.com she has a really awesome blog also, so please go on over and check her out if you haven't already! So, in order to accept this award I have to tell you five things that make me different from everyone else and then nominate another five blogs to receive the award also.

So Three things about myself:
1. I am a registered nurse who loves her job in the operating room!
2. I love to scrapbook and papercraft with my sister.
3. My husband is a total enabler to my paper crafting addictions. (I'm very lucky)

And the other blogs that I am nominating are:
1.http://canadiannickelscrapn.blogspot.com
2.http://crazyaboutcricket.blogspot.com
3.http://patchesofpink.blogspot.com

Spring Sunshine: Will it ever come?

Okay, so here I am on a cold sunday morning and it is -20 C and we have had about 15cm of snow in the last 48hrs! Ahh!! That was following about a week of +11C weather!! ha ha ha. how cruel is mother nature to give you a taste of whats to come and then right back to cold! Anyways, so I made this layout to try to catch up with some stuff from my daughters earlier months and also to remind me that the nice weather does come. It was inspired by some challenges that are involved with the crop out for a cure for Diabetes. One of the challenges was to create something that celebrates spring.  And the other challenge was to create something about someone that inspires you.  So I created it for my daughter because she has inspired me to remember to stay young at heart, and to always laugh and be happy.
Again, go and check the crop for a cure out. It's all for a great cause and there are some great prizes available!! So anyways, this is my layout, and I already put pictures of my daughter on it as I had them around...I love it when my to do scrapbooking list goes down! ha ha ha...also, beware this is a picture heavy post!!!  But I wanted to show closeups of all the elements that I put on it!  The two journaling spaces are the only thing that I have to do still.
So here is my double page layout!
Together:

Page One:

Page Two:

(Sorry this last one is a bit blurry, but it is a cardstock sticker with a few rub-ons and glitter brads on it.)
Recipe: Create a Critter Cartridge, I'm not sure what the background paper is anymore, I got it in an ebay lat...sorry, DCWV Carstock, DCWV Glitter Cardstock, old rub-ons not sure of brand (bird and "adore"), glitter brads, corduroy brads, bling, velvet brads, prima flowers, turquoise ranger embossing powder, ranger antiquities rose quartz, tanzanite, and ocher embossing powder, creative imaginations chipboard stickers, doodlebug designs cardstock stickers, kaiser crafts yellow pearls, eyelet outlet tulip brads, butterfly and flower stamps (not sure of brand), inkadinkadoo flourish stamps, cuttlebug embossing folder birds and swirls.
So there it is, thanks for looking. I'm about to go swimming with my family! yay!! Have a great day and hope your weather is nicer than it is here!! Thanks for looking!

Crop out for a Cure altered red/grey and black box

Okay, so I'm going to start by apologizing.  This is a rookie attempt...and it's pretty obvious....but I'm going to keep it because I like the top of my box, and I also like the colour scheme. Also, I'm hoping that maybe someone out there who checks out my blog who has done this sort of thing more often and knows what to do can help me out a little bit!! They'll see how in need I am of box altering advice!!!  I'm sure I will have to do the sides over again, and at that point I'll do it the right way! Ha ha ha. So this was inspired by the Diabetes Crop out for a Cure. PLEASE go and check it out. Donations to be eligible for prizes, but even if you're not into donating for good karma, the prizes are also great! But it is for a great cause!! Anyways, I was challenged to alter an item by two blogs, and also to make something using the colours that represent the JDRF, which is grey and red. You could have other colours on it but grey and red needed to be the main colours. So I altered an old box that fits A2 cards. I actually ordered envelopes and this is what they came in. So I decided to alter a box because you always have tons of cards and stuff that you just don't want to throw out, but you really don't have a place to keep them, so this will alleviate that problem! Yay!!
This is the top of my box.

the bottom but is emty becuase I want to do a cut from a child's year cricut cartridge, but I don't have it yet. I recently bought it online, but have not received it yet.

This is the side view from the front

So as you can tell by the side photo I did something I'll never do again, I just didn't really know any other way to go about it, so anyone who has a lot of experience doing this, tips are welcome and invited!!! Anyways, I pieced the sides on, I don't know if that's what you're dupposed to do, but there has to be a better way. I wouldn't do this again because it seems as if the sides are always catching on something when you move it or whatever, But if you cut the paper shorter so that it doesn't catch, it doesn't cover whats underneath the box.  Also, if you look at the front view, you can tell that the top of the box corners are flaring out and they don't look like they are even attatched.  I was hoping for a cleaner look, anyways, maybe it's just the box top...if you know a better way, let me know!!!

Recipe: Red, black and grey DCWV cardstock, ranger red embossing powder, black and red ribbon, Pooh Font Cricut Cartridge, inkadinkadoo flourish stamps, fiskars love stamps, recollections border punch for sides.
Anyways, thanks for checking me out today! Look forward to more crafts and firsts, hopefully the next is better than this one! I still like the top of it though, that's why i'm keeping it becuase of the top. It looks nice if you don't pick it up or anything...ha ha ha!

Wacky Wednesday, Creative Cutter Room, Crop out for a Cure

So I have a new project, and for the first time it isn't a card or a scrapbooking layout!! It is a treat bag topper! yay! My daughter is starting at her day home next tuesday, and well valentines day is a time for kids to enjoy some sweets. Now Paisley hasn't had much sweets...actually none, no ice cream, no cake, no candies nothing...so her first birthday will be the first time that she will have had any artificial sugars! wow...I don't think that I could go a year anymore!! ha ha ha. anyways, since I'm not sure what the other parents will think of giving their kids a bunch of sugar and also I don't want to give my daughter a ton of sugar, I am going to make some cookies from a recipe that my friend gave me. She is diabetic and they are "sugarless" cookies! But she promises that they are awesome!!! Oatmeal Spice Cookies. So we'll see. anyways, back to my topper, I made it also to submit to More Than Favors Wacky Wednesday Challenge which was to use only brown green and pink. I am also going to submit it to Creative Cutter Room's Challenge which was Love Bug themed. So without further ado...my toppers!

Recipe: Stretch Your Imaginations Cartridge Cricket cut at 2", Create a Critter Cartridge Love Bug Phrase at 2 1/4" I also used the leyer of the love bug for the heart eyes (I cut it at 2 inches without real dial size on), Pink brown and green recollections cardstock, spotty ribbon from michaels.

Oh yeah, and If you're interested, this is the recipe for my girlfriends cookies:
Diabetic Spice Oatmeal Cookies
1 c. water
2 c. raisins
4 tbsp sweetner
½ c butter
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp allspice
½ tsp cinnamon
1 tsp soda
1/8 tsp nutmeg
2 ½ c oatmeal
½ c chopped nuts
Boil water and raisins. Cool for 5 minutes. Add all the other ingredients. Form into balls and bake on lightly greased cookie sheet for 15 minutes at 325 degrees.

So I think i'll put four or five cookies in each ziploc for the kiddos. I'm not really excited for Paisley to go to Dayhome (more like I cray when I think about it), but heck it's been a year now!! Thank god for Canadian Maternity Leave!! However, I'm ready to get back out there in the work world too!
Also, part of my inspiration for making the diabetic cookies came from the Diabetes crop out for the cure!  It is part of a challenge, to make sweet free valentine for kids.  The blog hop is going on right now till February 5th. Please go and check it out, make a donation and join in the fun. It's only five dollars to participate in the blog hop and all the challenges along the way. You will also be eligible for all the awesome prizes along the way! A really fun way to raise some money for a really worthwhile cause! Alright well that's all for me tonight! Have a scraptaculous evening!!

Jitterbuggin' Challenge, CCCC #3, Terrific Tuesday, RRR16, CPS 202

Okay, so I think I have gone a bit challenge crazy here, but in my defence, they were quick and easy projects to make, not to mention fun! First off I made a valentines card. This is going to be for one of my besties. She will laugh, I thought that the stamp was super cute also. So this card I made to enter into Really Reasonable Ribbon's Hearts and Ribbons challenge (#16), which as the challenge says requires hearts and ribbons on the project. It is also going to be submitted to Card Positioning Systems Challenge 202, which was to create a card using a certain sketch. And lastly I wanted to enter this into The Scrappy Mom's Terrific Tuesday Challenge. Their challenge was to use the sweethearts cartridge, unfortunately I don't have that cartridge, but I figured that the sweetheart cartrige had hearts in it somewhere and I decided that it counted as a similar cut!!

Recipe: Recollections cardstock, miscallaneous ribbon, inkadinkadoo valentines and heart stamps, fiskars threading water punch, Plantin' Schoolbook for heart cutouts, Markers for colouring in the feet and tails, and pink ranger embossing powder (which didn't turn out as had hoped becuase of the dark background, but it still looked alright anyways).
Now this is a first, two projects one post!! ha ha ha. The next card I created to enter into the jitterbuggin' "Let the Sunshine in" Challenge. It was to use a certain sketch and use yellow. Which I was more than happy to do! This card was fun, I made it bigger than the standard sized card, I made it a 6x6 card. so that is fun (only I don't have an envelope for it, yet! ha ha ha). Once again this time I felt the need for peachy keen stamps!! ahhh!! I don't think i'm going to be able to wait and see if I won them! ha ha ha, I'm going to break down I just know it!  How can you never know about something and not be bothered and then you find out about it and all of the sudden you're finding that you need it on every project??  okay that is a stupid question...I'm finding this is happening with a lot of my projects!  There is so much stuff online that you just won't know if you don't venture!
Recipe: Recollections Cardstock, DCWB Glitter Cardstock, DCWV Spring Stack, Blue Ribbon, Create a Critter Cartridge, chalking for the edge of the chick, Pebbles Inc "Sunshine" Cardstock Sticker.

Anyways, So there you have it, my quick and easy projects for the day! Happy blogging, don't forget there are a few blog hops going on this weekend so make sure to check them out!! I know that I can't wait to see what everyone is creating!!

Cooking with Cricut, Made by Momo, and My Pink Stamper all in one

Hello!! I am really excited for this blog! I made a two page layout for my daughters first birthday today!  Even though I am caught up with my scrapbook for her, I have to do some pages for my mom as I gave her an ampty scrapbook for christmas with the assurance that she will receive random pages in the mail at different times in the year...sometimes you just get a little behind with all your crafting!!  ack!! Anyway, not only did I get a great sketch idea given in a challenge for me to use, but I also got to make a project that could be entered into two (make that three) challenges. I am entering this into Made by Momo's Tuesday Challenge (this tuesday is Challenge #20), and it is anything Princess Themed. Well my daughter is a little princess, but I also used a cricut imagine "you're my little princess banner." I am also going to submit this to Cooking with Cricut for Challenge #15, which is anything birthday themed. This is my chance to get some peachy keen stamps without going way over budget on an order becuase "I just can't help myself!!" Who hasn't said that before in a scrapbooking store...ahhh...I have heard every response from my husband possible! ha ha ha...anyway, Peachy Keen Stamps is the sponsor this week, so go on over and check it out, enter a project!! Anyway, onto my project, I am really happy with how this turned out, it had a little bit of everything on it. Heat embossing, dry embossing, cricut imagine and expressions, brads, ribbons, photo mats. and of course really cute glittery background paper!!  Its kind of hard to tell with the heat embossing, I sort of made the blue and pink embossing overlap a little bit.  That is something that I really like doing a lot, usually I'll make it overlap a lot and use it as a background for my titles or something.
Page One

Page Two

Recipe: Cricut Imagine best friends, storybook cartridge, "just because" cards cartridge, DCWV Glitter Stack background Paper, Recollections and a few other unknown brands of matchin cardstock. Misc Ribbon from micheals for both banner and runner. Miscallaneous brads, i think I got most of them from eyelet outlet, kaiser craft pearls, doodlebug designs cherry brad, D'vine Swirls and Candy Stripes Cuttlebug embossing folder, Magenta and turqouise ranger embossing powder, inkadinkadoo cute kid saying and flourish stamps, versamark watermark ink, and black ink. PHEW.

Another exciting thing is....that my husband got everything on tape as I was making this layout (minus all the cricut cutting, I did that before hand) I figured most people know how to use their cricut better than I do probably!! Anyways, he is editting as I speak. not sure if it is even going to be"postable," or when that will even happen, it may take a while to do the editing...we will see. I will only post it if it is somewhat decent (ie. you can actually tell what I am doing), and it is under 10 minutes!! Anyways, so that will be my inaugural video post! ha ha ha...yay!! We shall see how it goes! Anyway, thanks again for looking! Can't wait to check out all your blogs!! have good sleeps!!

p.s I am also going to submit this to My Pink Stamper for their something yummy challenge!  yay! (this time I will make it befire mr. linky disappears!!

Throwback Thursday

Well Hello again,
I have here again another challenge card. This one is for my neice who turns three soon, she loves princesses, the only thing that would be better would be Dora! ha ha ha. Anyways, I created this card and it is fairly simple. Not yet using many new techniques, but with all the blogs I have looked at my wish list has gotten so big that I can't possibly keep up, let alone my husband!! anyway, I am going to enter this into Thursday Throwback Challenge. First of all, I clearly need some peachy keen stamps...why have I never seen them before starting my own blog??!?!?!? Anyways, the peachy keen stamps really make your faces and other accents really great!! I am sad I don't have any yet! ha ha ha...I'm also happy to see that you can tell her boa is purple glittery.

Recipe: Paper Doll Dress-up Cartridge Prom Girl, Recollections cardstock, DCWV Glitter Cardstock, Pink Chalking for cheeks and text bubble, miscallaneous ribbon, Paisley cuttlebug embossing folder.
This was my project. It turned out okay, nothing special. It really makes a difference when you can stamp your sentiment obviously. So I wish I had some better sentiment stamps. I have mostly done scrapbooking layouts and hadn't really done much cardmaking till the last few weeks, so sentiments are not really my forte...for now...ha ha ha...But yeah, so my wish list grows with every project that I complete.
The other thing I am happy to report is that I am goign to try and get a video going on one of my projects. Not sure how that is going to go, i'm sure I will (and you will) find out how unorganized and scatterbrained I really am! ha ha ha...oh well...we'll see. I'm going to try it out. My husband is more into the technical side of thing and he really badly wants me to do it, so I'm sure I'll be doing it when he can help me out/forces me to do it! ha ha ha...anyways, Hopefully I'll get some time tonight to do another project! have a great day!  Thanks for looking!

Whimsical Wed, Challenge Me Monday, Challenge # 35

Hello all...again!! I'd like to start out by thanking my current followers! ha ha ha, yay!! I'm looking forward to the ten mark! ha ha ha...So Thank you for following and assuring me that I am not crazy and not out there talking to myself!! So tonight, I'd like to share with you a project that I created to include with the Whimsical Wednesday Challenge with Stephanie. I was a bit late in creating this, as again I am working against the clock to get this posted. ha ha ha...I have an hour to get my linky thingy on their site. It's not a bit deal if I don't get it. Anyways, the actual challenge was to use an elephant in your project. So I looked at their card that they created and it was really cute, but I really didn't want to use the create a critter elephant becuase I always use that cartridge and I was trying to use a cartridge that has been neglected (more on that later)! So without further ado, I created a birthday card. I still used the create a critter cartridge I guess for the peanuts! ha ha ha...oh well.

Recipe: Celebration Cartridge, Create a Critter Cartridge, Animal Kingdom Cartridge, Green Ribbon, Recollections Cardstock, Birthday stamps for stars and "Happy Birthday," black ink.
I wanted to put the circus tent behind the elephant but the elephant was so big that I figured that the card would be kind of taken over by images. I kind of wanted to keep it a bit more simple. This card is also a regular A2 card.
So, another challenge that I am entering this card into is the Challenge me Monday Challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut. Challenge me Monday Challenge # 44 was to use a cartridge that has been neglected in your collection. I decided to use the Animal Kingdom cartridge as since I got the create a critter cartridge this cartridge has sort of been on the back burner even though it has a lot of really cute images and sayings in it.
The third and final challenge that this card is goig to be included in is the Paper Playtime Challenge. It is Challenge #35, Anything Party Related. Obviously its a birthday card. Yay, so three challenges my project for today works for, that is fun!! Hope you enjoy my card, and looking forward to more! Have a great night!

Getting Inspired!!

So I decided to work on a project that was mainly inspired by Scrappin Roots Blog Hop, which was hosted by Erin.  The theme in that blog hop was to go back to the "roots" of paper crafting which for most people that started at scrapbooking.  Which it for sure did for me!  So I was happy to get back into a layout design!  There were three or four other sources of inspiration that I saw throughout my blog hopping today!  I was also inspired by Jess at Kinderstampo.com with her birthday themed blog hop.  I was inspired by my follower Linda who inspired me to "Get Punchy", I saw her post about a challenge at another blog (stamp, scrap and doodle) that she is involved in and it was challenging you to "Get punchy". And last, but most definately not least I was inspired to create a project that I could enter into the Cooking With Cricut Challenge.  Chellenge #13 was to use three flowers in your project.  They preferred cricut flowers, but I liked the prima flowers better on the page, just to add a bit more dimension to my page.
So after all that inspiration I was ready to get started!! I really wanted to make a scrapbook layout with cupcakes as I just bought an EK success border cupcake punch, and I have been soo excited to use it!! And also, since I started blogging I've been doing a lot more cards because they are fun, easy to share the joy, and there is more of an instant gratification becuase they are faster to make. This layout took me probably about two hours to complete.  That is from start of colour and paper selection to putting the last finishing touch on. The paper selection is usually the hardest part for me but in this case I already had a paper picked out before I began this. I just based my accompanying colours to go around this. I am really happy with the way it turned out and I will be putting pics of my daughter at her first birthday party on the pink and blue mats (she isn't one yet, so I'm sure I'll have some really cute pictures to go on them).

Recipe: Holly Mccaig Sweet cakes collection paper, Recollections orange and pink cardstock, DCWV Glitter Cardstock, Prima orange and pink flowers, recollections valentines brads, EK Success cupcake border punch, recollections flower border punch, g studio "100% Sweet" stamp, black tsukineko ink, inkadinkadoo flourish stamps, turqouise ranger embossing powder, blue and green ribbon, Create a Critter Cartridge, Birthday Stamps (brand unkown as I don't have packaging anymore), Cutting up Cartridge for saying, pop dots to make candles stand out on cupcake, stickles for eyes and mouth of beach ball.

So there you have it, the first layout that I have posted on my blog for you to see!! I definately can wait to put pictures in this one. Time seems to have gone so fast, when I look at my daughter I think how could a year have gone by already!! AHH!!!! One year is going to be harder for me then for her that's for sure!! ha ha ha...Happy Scrappin'

Card Patterns Sketch 99, Crafting with Cristina

First of all, I want to start out by saying that I was hanging out today and doing Kinderstampo's blog hop.  What an amazing blog hop.  There are 40 designers with different birthday themed projects.  What an inspiration they all are!!  When I say hanging out, I meant that during my daughters naps I would get online and see how many blogs I could check out and all their amazing projects!!  There is a lot of great ideas and new techniques for me that is for sure!!  There is also a lot of blog candy involved also and when you look at the blogs tons of challenges and other ideas for your own projects.  That is my favorite part of this.  I am learning all sorts of things I had no idea about.  One particularly awesome blog candy is over at Elsa's Blog (cricutlvr.blogspot.com/), she is giving away a happy hauntings cricut cartridge for her birthday!  Not very many people give gifts on their own birthdays!!
Anyways, as I was blog hopping today I happened upon a challenge that I am really excited to be partaking in.  The challenge was to create something in which you only used black white and gray (you were allowed to switch grey for silver if you wanted to, which I promptly did).  This is challenege #15 at Crafting with Cristina.  Below is the project that I created for it.  Hope you enjoy it!  I enjoyed making it anyways!!

Recipe: Me and My Big Ideas Specialty Cardstock in B&W as card base, recollections black cardstock, DCWV Glitter cardstock white and silver, Snowflake Stamps (don't have the packaging anymore so I dont' know what brand they are), tsukineko silver embossing powder, Black Ribbon, Threading water fiskars border punch, two recollections black glitter brads, White pigment ink to edge the black circle.
I again was able to make one project qualify for two challenges!  That is exciting!!  This also followed Card Patterns Sketch 99.  I know I have only been blogging for a few days...ha ha ha (it sounds funny to say days), but I love card Patterns ketch challenges, they are so fun!  Anyways, so I know winter is sort of "petering out" (for some of us), but I love that the stamp relates winter to spring.  This is a really cute stamp and is so versatile.  Anyways, I am off for tonight!!  Had a lot of fun doing the blog hop!!

p.s I wish you could tell that the white and the grey looking paper is glitter paper...hmmmm...

Jitterbuggin and Paper Playtime Challenges

Okay, so I have a certified obsession with scrapbooking, "creeping" on other's blogs and blog hopping and now blogging myself!! ha ha ha...my husband says after only two days of doing thsi that I am going to run out of supplies...I doubt it. The more I look ato ther people blogs the longer my "wish list" gets. There is always something new and great on the market for everything, and not only new and great items there is always the old favorites!! Speaking of which, something I saw on someone's blog was the ATG!! I ordered one online and am currently waiting (patiently...sort of) for one to arrive. Even tonight as I glued the front of my card onto the card base I was annoyed. It is a tough balance between not enough glue and too much when you use a full embossing sheet for your card. Anyways, this is my favorite card that I have made so far. One thing new that I learned for this, which I had to lookup on You tube was how to tie a bow. The requirements for the Jitterbuggin' Challenge was to use Brown and creams and white with only one other accent colour (I obviously chose orange), but you also had to have a bow somwhere on your craft. I learned how to tie a bow via youtube. And that on the card is the first bow that I have ever tied, I usually just stick to knots in my ribbon, but it turned out great.

Recipe: Recollections brown cardstock and shimmer orange cardstock, I also used a cream cardstock for the card base, miscallaneous ribbon I bought online ages ago (dont' remember brand), recollections brads, Give a Hoot Cartridge, Fiskars LoLasting Love Quotes stamps, Versamark, Tsukineko gold embossing powder, and brown versamagic for aging the edges, corner rounding punch, scripture cuttlebug embossing folder, I also attempted to get an orange shimmer by chalking the scripture, it is hard to tell, but I really just got a watermark and a general shimmer all over. Oh well, it didn't make it worse anyways.
This was a really fun card and it was fun to finally see it finished. This card also qualifies for Paper Playtime's challenge also. The only requirement for Paper Playtime's Challenge was to use the word "Love" on your paper craft. Okay, this time i probably am not going to bed, but I am not crafting anymroe tonight, only ideas for the weekend!! ha ha ha...Good Night!
Oh yeah, and just a post note on my previous My Pink Stamper Blog Hop Challenge, remember how I only had an hour to get it online and linked...well it apparently takes me longer than that to get my stuff online!!  So I didn't make the cutoff for My Pink Stamper's Blog Hop....:(  Oh well, it was a last minute entry anyways I guess.

My Pink Stamper Blog Hop Challenge

So I was blog hopping and ended up on Robyn's Blog over at mypinkstamper.com, and I realized that there was still an hour to enter into the bloghop! So, I made this card last week and I thought it was just really great. A friend from my work is having a baby girl soon, and she is soo excited! Who wouldn't be. So I made this card for her, and it also happens to work with the Pink Stamper challenge!

Recipe: Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge, recollections pink brads, recollections little girl stamps, brown ribbon, DCWV Glitter Stack, DCWV pastel Cardstock, DCWV Neutural Cardstock, Fiskars Threading Water Border Punch.
I'm really happy with how it turned out. I don't have any my pink stamper stamps yet, But it would be awesome to win some so I can try them out. I'm sure it will only fuel my addiciton of stamps even further!! Anyways, this will be the end of my incessant blogging for today. I have no more projects recently made that I can post. I would love to enter into Paper Playtime's and also Jitterbuggin's Challenges, but we will see what tonight and tomorrow brings.

Sketch 98 Card Pattern Challenge

Well, I was remembering that one of the main reasons that I started a blog was to enter this one specific card into one of the challenges that I saw. It is the Sketch 98 Card Patterns Challenge. This is a really neat blog, as every week there is a new pattern to create, and it is fun to see all the different takes on the same sketch!  I have never done a card with a format like this before, but it turned out really cute. I also have barely used my Pooh and Friends Cartridge as I just got it for christmas. So here is the card that I created.
Recipe: DCWV Winter Paper Stack, Recollections Cardstock, Bazzill Flower pots in pink and white, prima flower, Cuttlebug winter embossing borders, Pooh and Friends Cartridge, Cricut Imagine Stock Images for the circles and scallopped circle, Stickles, Recollections valentines brad in the middle of the flowers. I curled the Bazill flowers so that the curled out a little bit, this is a new technique for me, i have never done that before, so it is pretty neat and it adds some nice dimension to the card. I also used pop dots to pop out the eeyore from the circle and scalloped circle. This was a fun card to make, and I used it a bit out of context...sort of. It is again a pretty basic card, but fun and hopefully it will cheer someone up at some point! Enjoy!

Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge

Okay so I got a little ambitious after my last post (it took me two days to compose it!). I got off the computer and after a bit of blog hopping decided to try a challenge over at Paula's Blog (morethanfavors.blogspot.com). This card is for the Cricut Cartridge choas challenge. Try saying that ten times fast! The challenge was to make something fun using the mini monsters cartridge. I decided to do none other than a halloween card. Which brings me to another goal. To try to use cartridges that have a distinct theme, ie mini monsters - halloween for a different theme. I saw Paula made a scrapbook layout with a valentines theme that was really cute!! So I'm going to try and do a little more of the branching out with my cartridges. Anyways, my card turned out really cute. I was happy with it anyways, and my husband said it's cute (well he didn't say "cute" per say, but he said it was neat).

Recipe: Mini Monsters Cartridge, Recollections Solid Cardstock, DCWV Glitter Cardstock, Inkadinkadoo Halloween Stamps, Stazon Black Pigment Ink, Tsukineko Clear Embossing Powder, Lime Green Prima Flowers, Bazzill Flower Pots white, Black Ribbon, miscallaneous halloween brad, Cuttlebug Spiderweb Embossing envelope. (I'm new to the whole writing down the "recipe" for what I did, so Please let me know if I forgot anything!!)

It was really fun to make, but not too complicated, obviously and didn't take all evening! But like I said, I need to start branching out and really making the most of my cartridges. Thank you Paula for the inspiration for yet another goal!! Looking forward to my next challenge!

Yay!!! Officially a Blogger!!

So this is my first post ever!!  It took me an embarrassingly long time to get this set up.  In fact, I still have to figure out how to make it pretty As if that isn't obvious)!!!  Ha ha ha.  Well, my goal in creating this blog is to every week get a new scrapbook layout or card posted on it.
I also want to expand my tools, and skill set and participate in some scrapping challenges.  By doing this, I will of course take a peek at a bunch of other ideas and takes on the same sketches etc.  Hopefully this will help in my main goal of improving my scrapping!  Some of the more specific goals for me are to learn how to use Copic Markers, I want to experiment more with stamping and different variations (ie. using markers to stamp, embossing, chalking etc).  Maybe along the way I might help others out as well, and make myself laugh!  The main thing I guess for me is to just have some fun with it.  So, without further ado (spelling??), I will bid farewell and good night as I prepare my first real post with a project and photos.  I will have something up on the weekend.  I guess you gotta start somewhere!
